This is a clan tomb belonging to the Eng Choon Association. The peak of the famed Bukit Cina is a flat plateau about the size of two basketball courts and is almost barren except for a cenotaph and a lone Chinese tomb. Framed by young trees, it is a rare and quiet spot that provides commanding views of the entire town and beyond and is an excellent locale for morning t'ai chi or even a picnic. While it is open to the public, be mindful that this is essentially a piece of private land and sacred grounds of an influential and illustrious family whose lineage can be traced back to the wealthy Tan Beng Swee and his son Kim Seng. The cenotaph commemorates the 1994 restoration and upgrading of the site, which was at least once seriously challenged by prying commercial and government interests.
