Directly opposite Hotel Mimosa, all-time favourites go for value-for-money prices here. A pointed, multi-tiered roof makes the restaurant stand out from a row of staid mould-encrusted double-storey pre-war shophouses. The interior, however, boasts a simple coffee-shop style furnishing. The highlight is truly the Hainanese Chicken Rice-succulent and juicy chicken served with fragrant and perfectly balanced rice. There are also roast pork and char siew rice and numerous Nyonya or Straits Chinese/Malay fusion dishes like Assam Fish Head (fish head in tamarind), Nyonya Fish and Kangkong Belacan (vegetables fried with shrimp paste), which in all their spiciness and piquancy, complete an unforgettable eating experience.
